Houston CowParade 2001 was a successful fundraiser benefitting Texas Children’s Hospital in their goal for a new children;s cancer center building.

In total, 333 cows were designed and displayed for months.  A published hardback photographic book was one sales item in the project.

I was commissioned to create artworks on 3 of the molded cows - [ of fiberglass and resin over rebar - which I painted with acrylics].

“THE MOON JUMPED ONTO THE COW” became part of a sponsored herd [10 COWS] by HEB Groceries. They featured the cow in HEB Grocery ads, traveled them around for viewing prior to the larger event.

Sponsoring an entire herd enabled HEB to select two to keep [all other cows went to the auction block]. “THE MOON JUMPED ONTO THE COW “was one they selected, and HEB elected to donate to The Children’s Museum of Houston.

Since 2001, this cow is on permanent display outside the museum. Thousands of children have posed for photographs with this cow.
